Shanghai Port · Service
Energy Storage Logistics from Shanghai
BESS logistics from Shanghai: align classification, complete shipping weight, handling and port acceptance around the actual equipment—not a capacity estimate.
The short version
One shipment plan must connect the equipment, documents, vessel and receiving arrangements.

What does this service actually cover?
Tell us whether cabinets will be packed inside freight containers or an integrated storage container will travel as the transport unit. Dimensions, actual shipping weight, structure and lifting information determine which options can be assessed.
Classification review and physical handling are parallel workstreams. Neither is secondary, and neither substitutes for the other. We coordinate outstanding questions with the relevant parties before fixing the operational plan.
The published Karachi case involved two 20HQ units, each 4.18MWh and 37.7 tonnes including the enclosure, confirmed arrived at the port. It shows a specific shipment scope, not a universal weight limit, pairing rule or future delivery guarantee.

What we coordinate within the agreed scope
- Booking
- DG document coordination, where applicable
- DG filings, where applicable and commissioned
- Export customs within the agreed scope
- Trucking, if commissioned
- Partner warehousing, if commissioned
- Container loading and securing
- Shipping line coordination
How does a shipment actually move?
These are coordination stages, not a rule that every activity waits for the previous one. Documents, loading and customs may progress in parallel.
Create the equipment brief
Identify the transport unit, actual shipping weight, dimensions, structure and manufacturer handling information.
Match classification and evidence
Review the actual battery configuration and supporting documents rather than assigning a UN number from the product name.
Confirm the route conditions
Coordinate carrier, origin, transshipment and destination acceptance, and confirm who arranges collection and onward transport.
Agree the operational plan
Confirm the required equipment, lifting and securing arrangements with the relevant operators and define charges and handovers.
Progress and track the shipment
Coordinate the agreed booking and filings, follow actual milestones and reassess changed equipment or route conditions.
What information and documents should we prepare?
Start with available equipment information. We identify the additional documents and operational confirmations needed before shipment.
- Equipment and transport-unit informationRequired
Capacity, quantity, actual shipping weight including enclosure, dimensions, structure and photos.
- Battery configuration and available transport evidenceRequired
Send existing SDS, classification and test information; explain any gaps for review.
- Manufacturer lifting, securing and structural informationConditional
Provide existing drawings and requirements first; operators confirm the plan before execution.
- Applicable container and test documentsConditional
Match the actual transport unit and battery arrangement. A summary is not a full test report.
- Route, cargo-ready date and receiving responsibilitiesRequired
Not sure what you need?
What is different about this port?
Weight limits belong to the actual operation
A figure used on another shipment does not establish acceptance here. Confirm the unit, vessel and terminal conditions along the route; there is no universal sub-45-tonne promise on this site.
Pairing and destination handover need confirmation
Check any paired-unit requirement with the actual service, and agree destination collection and onward responsibilities before dispatch.
Questions I get asked most often
- Can you quote from MWh capacity alone?
- No. Capacity does not establish complete shipping weight, dimensions or handling conditions. Send the specifications and actual transport configuration.
- Does a storage container always require a flat rack?
- No. An integrated transport unit and equipment packed inside another container are different arrangements. Assess the actual structure, weight, dimensions and available service.
- How long will the shipment take?
- Plan preparation, handling windows, sailing, transshipment and destination handover together. Neither longer lead time nor a fixed transit period can be assumed from the cargo category.
- Is destination transport included?
- Only as agreed in the specific commission. We need receiving and collection arrangements confirmed even when another party handles them.
Before you book
Classification, packing and acceptance remain subject to the current edition of applicable regulations, carrier review and port requirements. Final dangerous goods acceptance is made by the carrier after document review — submitting a request through this website is a preliminary assessment, not a booking confirmation.
