Lithium Battery DG Shipping from Shanghai | Service

Lithium battery sea freight from Shanghai: connect the actual battery, its supporting evidence and a workable FCL or LCL service before cargo is dispatched.

The short version

Identify the battery and its condition, match the documents, then confirm packing and carrier acceptance.

What does this service actually cover?

A useful enquiry identifies chemistry, model, shipping configuration and condition—not just the words lithium battery. Tell us whether batteries travel alone, with equipment or installed, and whether they are new, used, returned or in an exceptional condition.

Start with available specifications, SDS and test evidence. A UN38.3 test summary is not the full test report: our formal lithium-battery FCL checklist requests the report. We identify what is missing and when it is needed; completed Shanghai maritime filing records are not an initial enquiry prerequisite.

I coordinate the initial plan and key questions. Company operations progress booking, documents and milestones within the agreed scope, with packing and handling conditions checked before dispatch.

Relevant cargo guides

From enquiry to an agreed shipment plan

  • Booking
  • DG document coordination, where applicable
  • DG filings, where applicable and commissioned
  • Export customs within the agreed scope
  • Trucking, if commissioned
  • Partner warehousing, if commissioned
  • Container loading and securing
  • Shipping line coordination

How does a shipment actually move?

These are coordination stages, not a rule that every activity waits for the previous one. Documents, loading and customs may progress in parallel.

  1. Identify the battery

Match manufacturer, model, chemistry, configuration and condition to the actual cargo.

  2. Agree document stages

Review available evidence, distinguish summary from report, and identify formal booking and packaging requirements.

  3. Confirm packing and service

Check the proposed packing, route and carrier or consolidation acceptance before warehouse delivery.

  4. Coordinate booking and operations

Progress the agreed application, loading, later DG filings and terminal arrangements; review any changes.

  5. Track actual milestones

Confirm sailing and subsequent updates within the commissioned scope rather than treating a planned date as completion.

What information and documents should we prepare?

This is a staged enquiry and booking checklist, not a claim that every document must already exist at first contact.

  • Battery and equipment specificationsRequired

Model, chemistry, configuration, condition and applicable technical ratings—not watt-hours alone for every chemistry.

  • Available SDS and UN38.3 test summaryConditional

Provide matching documents for initial review and identify gaps.

  • UN38.3 test reportConditional

Requested by our formal lithium-battery FCL booking checklist; not interchangeable with the summary.

  • Packing, quantities, dimensions, weights and photosRequired
  • Packaging evidence and additional appraisal documentsConditional

Confirm the applicable path. A transport appraisal does not automatically waive or replace a packaging use-appraisal requirement.

Not sure what you need?

Send what you have. An MSDS alone is enough for a first conversation, and it is easier to work out the gap from a real document than from a description.

What is different about this port?

Product correspondence, not an invented expiry date

Check that the evidence covers the battery design and any relevant changes. An older test-summary date alone does not make it expired; clarify issuer updates and additional carrier requests separately.

LCL review belongs before dispatch

Check service availability and the planned cargo combination before sending goods to the warehouse. Receiving checks confirm the actual cargo and identify changes; they do not replace pre-dispatch review.

Questions I get asked most often

Does a UN38.3 document confirm a booking?
No. A report or summary supports the assessment; classification, packing, condition and carrier acceptance still need review.
Must an older summary automatically be replaced?
No conclusion follows from age alone. Check its correspondence with the actual design, any changes and issuer information, then clarify what the proposed shipment requires.
Can lithium batteries ship by LCL?
We can assess the actual cargo, destination and available service. Confirm acceptance and compatibility before dispatch; a small quantity alone does not establish feasibility.
How should an urgent shipment be planned?
Provide the cargo-ready date, target sailing and available documents. We check the outstanding work and actual deadlines; urgency does not remove acceptance or filing requirements.

Before you book

Classification, packing and acceptance remain subject to the current edition of applicable regulations, carrier review and port requirements. Final dangerous goods acceptance is made by the carrier after document review — submitting a request through this website is a preliminary assessment, not a booking confirmation.

Tell me your UN number and destination

Cargo name, UN number if you have it, quantity, packaging and destination port. If the classification is unclear, say so and send the MSDS.
