API & Intermediate Logistics from Shanghai

Export coordination for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and pharmaceutical intermediates. Start with the actual material, its quality conditions and the work you need us to arrange.

The short version

Identify the material, review its transport status, then agree the quality conditions and service scope.

What does this service actually cover?

This service focuses on APIs and intermediates, not an assumed finished-medicine distribution network. The linked cargo guide explains the material categories; this page sets out how we agree and coordinate the export.

Provide the manufacturer’s quality and handling requirements early. Standard freight service does not mean validated cold-chain transport, certified pharmaceutical warehousing or a guarantee of product regulatory compliance.

I coordinate the initial plan and key issues, while company operations handle routine booking, documents and milestones. Destination clearance and delivery are included only where explicitly agreed.

Relevant cargo guides

Agreeing the work and handovers

  • Cargo and document review
  • Ocean booking within the agreed scope
  • Origin handling, if commissioned
  • Export customs coordination
  • DG filings only where applicable
  • Milestone updates

How does a shipment actually move?

These are coordination stages, not a rule that every activity waits for the previous one. Documents, loading and customs may progress in parallel.

  1. Name the material precisely

Clarify whether the shipment is an API or an intermediate and provide its actual specification.

  2. Review transport and inspection

Check the SDS and supporting evidence, separating DG classification from applicable export inspection.

  3. Confirm quality and scope

Discuss packaging, handling restrictions and any specialist requirements before committing to a service.

  4. Coordinate the export

Align the agreed freight arrangements and document handovers with the cargo-ready date.

What information and documents should we prepare?

Information for enquiry and subsequent review

  • Product identity, specification and matching SDSRequired

For our initial review of the actual material and its transport properties.

  • Packaging, weights, route and quality requirementsRequired

Include any moisture, light, contamination or temperature restrictions.

  • Transport appraisal and inspection documentsConditional

Confirm transport classification and applicable hazardous-chemical export inspection separately.

  • Batch, quality and destination documentationConditional

Prepare as required for the actual product, customer and destination; do not substitute these for transport documents.

  • Temperature-control or monitoring specificationConditional

Required for evaluating a requested specialist arrangement, not a promise that it is available.

Not sure what you need?

Send what you have. An MSDS alone is enough for a first conversation, and it is easier to work out the gap from a real document than from a description.

What is different about this port?

State quality restrictions before choosing the service

Moisture, odour, light and temperature restrictions may affect acceptance and handling even for non-DG cargo. Specialist resources and responsibilities must be confirmed separately.

Define the destination handover

Clarify what the importer or overseas agent will handle. Freight coordination does not by itself establish an import authorization or permission to market the product.

Questions I get asked most often

Does the service include a pharmaceutical cold chain?
Not by default. Specialist conditions and resources must be evaluated and explicitly confirmed before accepting that scope.
What does API mean in this service?
API means active pharmaceutical ingredient: a substance or mixture intended for use in manufacturing a drug and to become its active ingredient.
Can a non-DG intermediate use general cargo freight?
Potentially, subject to the actual classification, carrier acceptance, packaging and stated quality requirements. Pharmaceutical use alone does not determine the service.

Before you book

Classification, packing and acceptance remain subject to the current edition of applicable regulations, carrier review and port requirements. Final dangerous goods acceptance is made by the carrier after document review — submitting a request through this website is a preliminary assessment, not a booking confirmation.

Tell me your UN number and destination

Cargo name, UN number if you have it, quantity, packaging and destination port. If the classification is unclear, say so and send the MSDS.
