Dangerous goods enquiry checklist
Send what you know. Leave uncertain classification pending; do not guess a UN number. Incomplete details can start an email discussion.

Start with these details
- Your name, company and reply email.
- Product name, use and physical form; matching SDS if available.
- Origin, destination and the scope you need quoted: port-to-port, collection or other requested work.
- Package type and count, gross weight including packaging, dimensions or volume. Identify estimates and units.
- FCL or LCL preference, or ask which is suitable; cargo-ready date and any important arrival deadline.
- UN number, shipping name, class and packing group only where known and applicable; identify unresolved questions.
- If you already hold space: carrier, vessel/voyage, booking or B/L reference and notified DG filing cut-off. Say whether you need warehouse stuffing or factory trucking, filings and customs only.
Additional information may follow
- Relevant packaging documents and photos, matched to the actual goods and proposed arrangement.
- For battery-related cargo: product configuration and available test-summary information. The required evidence depends on the product.
- For heavy equipment or storage systems: dimensions, total transport weight including the enclosure, and available handling information.
- For mixed cargo: an item-by-item list. Do not rely on one combined description for different products.
This is an enquiry aid, not a complete declaration checklist or acceptance approval. Completed Shanghai maritime DG filing records are not needed for the first enquiry. Send only information you are authorised to share; redact unrelated customer identifiers. Attachments are optional for the first enquiry.
